COMMUNITY COUNSELING & MEDIATION
Letter from Emory
Welcome to Community Counseling & Mediation's website!
When I founded Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) in 1982, my goal was to bring together a group of dedicated professionals who would create an array of services that were both culturally sensitive and highly effective in changing behavior at the individual, group and community levels. CCM's first programs were developed to work with troubled families in their homes and in their local communities. We provided parenting skills training to head start centers; we collaborated with churches and other community institutions to make our services available to their constituencies; we developed networks with other service providers to avoid duplication and to concentrate our efforts in the areas where we have the greatest expertise.
We quickly learned that there was an enormous need for programs that were therapeutic in nature-mental health clinics, services for families affected by AIDS, educational and developmental programs for at-risk youngsters, family-based treatment programs for children whose emotional problems inhibited their academic and social development.
I appreciate your interest in CCM.
